 Ramadan is the most popular festival of Muslims. It is celebrated during the ninth month of Islamic lunar calendar. Muslims observe fast during the daylight hours of this month. In 2012, Ramadan will start on July 20th and end on August 18th. The date of the last day of Ramadan is not yet exactly known as it will be confirmed only after the new moon is seen.
Fasting in Ramadan is observed to imbibe spirituality and devotion among the people. Ramadan is also considered to be the most auspicious month. It is believed that the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad during this month. |
