Celebration of Ganesha Chaturthi Festival

Devotees and community organizers usually make oversized Lord Ganeshas Idols during the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. They are usually made of mud, clay or Plaster of Paris a couple of months before the Ganesh Chaturthi Festival. Large Vinayaka puja pandals are made for devotees to offer prayers. Then, the idol of Lord Ganesha is then taken to procession. Most of the major streets are used for the parade. Many devotees swarm on these major streets to witness and worship Lord Ganesha as it being marched.

In the night falls, Lord Ganesha idol is put in the pandal wherein devotees can offer their prayers and worship. During this time, group of musicians are signing Ganesha chaturthi Bhajans. The puja is then ended by intricate ganesh aarti and grand feasting. Hindu celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with great passion and pleasure in different parts of the country. In fact, in Maharashtra ganesh chaturthi is a very important holiday. Even in Konkanis, Goa, devotees consider Ganesh chaturthi as significant festival and observe fasting during the day.
