Onam celebration is popularly known, not just with its colorful festivities, but also with its grand feasting. Different kinds of onam dishes are prepared and served in a fresh, tender banana leaves that should be eaten with your bare hand. And one of the most common and traditional onam sadhya dishes is the Payasam. Payasams come in different varieties. They differ depending on the ingredients being used and the procedure of cooking. In this one, we will sure milk, sugar and dried rice. Enjoy this yummy Onam recipe!

Ingredients

  • 3 liters of Milk
  • 700 grams of sugar
  • 180 Grams of Dried red rice

How to Cook Payasam

1. In a pan, let the milk boil in a medium heat.

2. Stir in the sugar and let it boil again.

3. Wash the rice and stir in to the milk and sugar mixture. Let it simmer in medium heat.

4. Wait until the rice is cooked.

5. Serve hot.
